Valerie Tan

Senior Physiotherapist

  • BSc of Physiotherapy (IE)
  • AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional Therapist (USA)

With a comprehensive background in rehabilitation across a diverse range of conditions, Valerie is dedicated to delivering compassionate and personalised care to her patients. Her expertise extends beyond her specialisation in cardiac and pulmonary physiotherapy, allowing her to adapt her skills to support patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, and post-surgical rehabilitation needs. Her ability to tailor treatments to each patient’s unique condition reflects her versatility and deep clinical understanding.

Valerie graduated with Honours in Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy) from Trinity College Dublin in 2018, and is a Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP) accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) – the only certification aligned with published CR competencies. Since 2021, Valerie has been instrumental in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, working closely with high-risk populations, including post-cardiac procedure patients and individuals with advanced heart and lung conditions. She co-led the management of heart failure and high-risk cardiac patients, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team – including cardiac nurses and heart failure consultants – to ensure comprehensive, patient-focused care. She is dedicated to guiding patients through their recovery journey, equipping them with the knowledge, motivation, and support needed to regain confidence in their health.

Beyond clinical practice, Valerie has played a pivotal role in program development, education, and competency-based training for physiotherapists and healthcare professionals. She has co-led ICU competency programs, developed standardised rehabilitation workflows, and conducted training workshops to elevate physiotherapy practice. Recognised for her contributions to healthcare education, she was awarded the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Teaching Award for Allied Health Educators in 2024. As a mentor and educator, she is committed to shaping the next generation of physiotherapists.

Outside of work, Valerie enjoys playing volleyball and exploring the ocean through scuba diving, embracing both teamwork and adventure!
